Morven the succubus is a demon like no other.  Hounded by hunger and doubt, she glimpses a problem in the world and sets herself the daunting task of discovering its source.  Meanwhile, in modern-day Seattle, a man named Daniel faces choices that may lead him away from his deepest desires.  His demons are far closer than he thinks, and he will need them all before the end.  Drawing from ancient myth and folklore, Half Light takes us on a trip through the tumbles and triumphs, the darkness and light of one man's search for his own unique path.  Half Light is a fanciful romp that may well change how you see yourself and the world - and is sure to make you laugh!

Yesterday, I finished reading an interesting book titled "half light." The story is well-paced and enjoyable. The characters are varied and sympathetic. The relationships between the major characters are not static, and the ways in which those relationships evolve are well done. I had to force myself to set the book aside so I'd savor it rather than gobble it up.

Even though the story takes place (mostly) in contemporary Seattle, the novel had, in my mind, the feeling of a fable. One could hardly find a more relevant set of themes for today's society. I suspect others will find similar resonance as I with the situations and the characters in half light. One particularly striking example: the way commitments, real and imagined, displace and sap our creative energy.

Half Light E Leverett Taylor 9780971874671 Books Reviews

This is a fascinating, multi-faceted, well written tale of creativity, demons (real, imagined, or otherwise), and relationships. It is not only fun and funny, it is thought provoking. There are some wonderful insights into the creative mind, and the mysteries of a realm not exactly seen, but not unseen either. Like an earlier reviewer - I, too, am left wondering about sounds in the night, and what really lives in my vivid dreams. And, should I listen or not?
Having wrestled "real" demons surrounding abuse and addictions, I can't decide whether this profound story belongs on my self-healing shelf, my deeply-intellectual shelf, or among the funniest books I own. A page turner, a mind-opener. This simple and yet extraordinary tale defies typical classification. And like the genius that created "Where the Wild Things Are," the message in this story should be broadcast worldwide! Mankind's salvation lies in pursuing our own creative passions.
Half Light epitomizes my love of reading. The characters are a delight, and the story insightful and profound. The reader is transported between the human world and a whimsical world of fairies and demons. Its an easy and fun read, but thought provoking, exploring the human condition with a new and different twist. Half Light is earthy, fanciful, and at the same time has a suspenseful element that kept me glued to the pages. I'll never hear noises in the night in quite the same way again!
this book had me laughing and crying. it's about being true to the deepest parts of oneself and about how everything belongs ultimately in the completeness of Source. in it, humans affect the lives of so-called demons and faeries and the like, and those beings affect the decisions of humans using human dreams as the meeting ground. Delightful and moving.
